The process starts by collecting maple sap from our beautiful trees (the ones that make Vermont foliage so vibrant!) Historically, this has been done by inserting a spile into the tree (don't worry- it does not harm the trees) and collecting the sap in covered buckets.
These days, most commercial maple farms use plastic tubing which collects the sap more efficiently and brings it straight to us. It may not look as pretty but it is much more eco-friendly.
Once the sap is collected it is processed in our sugar house
Once this process is complete we boil the sap until it reaches the correct temperature and density.
After each batch is tested in quality control (our kids) it is filtered, bottled, and ready to go to your kitchen table. We never send out any product that we would not use ourselves!
